In 1996 the government passed a law that requires all landlords, who rent either part or all of a property, to have all household gas appliances and pipes checked every 12 months with a Landlord gas safety certificate to this effect.
Gas Safe Register is the official stamp for gas safety in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Guernsey. CORGI registration is no longer valid. To work legally on gas appliances and installations you must be Gas Safe Registered.

Gas is safe in the hands of a registered expert but in unqualified hands the results can be disastrous. According to figures by Gas Safe, there is more than an 81 per cent chance that a significant gas safety defect will remain in gas works after the have been carried out by an unregistered installer.
Unregistered installers and DIY’ers are not only breaking the law but can also peoples’ lives at risk.
